Civitas International Project
Civitas International is a platform for cross-cultural exchange among emerging leaders and talents around the world. The program also offers an exciting opportunity for selected talents to teach lectures and seminars to top high-schoolers and college students in China. In Civitas International, students will, like in standard Civitas projects, engage with their mentors to create deep bonds and a more complex understanding of various regions of the world. What’s different from standard Civitas programs, however, is that Civitas International employs an international theme and invites mentors from around the world to interact with students.

Project Civitas International aims to cultivate a new generation of responsible global citizens through thoughtful dialogues that cultivate a sense of cultural competency. We aspire to connect youths around the world who share similar ideals of internationalism and a global outlook. The founders of Civitas International, with their past experiences in promoting seminar-style teaching in China, will uphold the ideal of cross-cultural dialogue in education and incorporate international voices to create a truly global experience for Chinese students and beyond in the future.

Core Curriculum
Each week during the term, students are expected to participate in two 1.5-hour lectures led by a different mentor, as well as a 1.5-hour small group discussion session (seminar) with a designated mentor (the same mentor every week). Lectures are knowledge-based, which aims to expose students to a broad diversity of cultures. Discussion sessions provide a more private, conversational space to share their cultural experiences, foster closer bond, and nurture lasting friendship between students and mentors and among the peers.

In our very first term Summer 2023, we recruited 35 students and 8 mentors from 5 continents.
Global Coffeehouse
Global Coffeehouse operates year-round as a welfare to Civitas’ alumni community. In Global Coffeehouse, we invite fellows and non-fellows of diverse backgrounds to share their life experiences and stories in a casual “coffee chat” setting.
